Cornwell Community Church is one of the two Church of England churches in the Anglican parish of Tilehurst : St Catherine’s & Calcot : St Birinus. We are located on the very western edge of Tilehurst in Reading.
We’re a small, friendly church and we aim to reach out to our local community and show God’s love in action. Our Sunday morning services are simple, informal and family friendly.
Our worship is contemporary and we try to explore the Bible in innovative ways to make it relevant to our lives today. While we always start the service together, more often than not, the children go off to their own age related activities (Sunday school).
Adults meet midweek in each others’ homes for fellowship and Bible study. At the other church in the parish – St Catherine’s – we run a fortnightly Youth group for young people at secondary school. We also help run a week long Holiday Club in August for children in primary school.
The Church is run on a day-to-day basis by an elected Leadership. Worship is led by congregation members, a Licensed Lay Minister (who is a member of the church) and our Vicar – Rev Gill Rowell – who visits us regularly.
Over the years, Cornwell Community Church has slowly grown and now has over sixty members.
